Tenerife
Activities - what can you do in Tenerife?
That´s
a good question and one we are often asked. The answer is simply...just
about anything!
With four fabulous golf courses in the south
of Tenerife and an ideal climate it is not surprising that
Tenerife is one of the most popular golfing destinations in Europe.
Watersports are extremely well served on the island too. El Medano offers the
perfect combination of powerful waves and sheltered, rock free bays
to accommodate wind and kite surfers of all experience levels. Sailing,
big game fishing and scuba diving are
all available and something which Tenerife offers which is not available
anywhere else in Europe is Bob Diving.
As well as general sightseeing there
are excursions and tours to fit every taste and age group. You
can take a cultural guided walking tour of Santa Cruz or go out
on
the open sea to watch dolphns and whales. Thrill seekers can
enjoy the
exciting
bungy high jumps at Sky Park, or take the cable car up to the
top of Teide - Tenerife´s very
own volcano.
For all your excursions around the island and for information on
how to book them we recommend "ViajesTeide" the
Islands premier excursion company.
There are waterparks and cultural parks.
The breathtaking wild bird show at Parque de Aguilas really
should not be missed. Parque de Aguilas also offers an obstacle
course which will keep the kids happy for ages. Loro Parque in
Puerto de
la Cruz with its colourful parrots, the world´s largest
penguinarium and fabulous tropical gardens is a must!
The mysterious Pyramides de Guimar make another
fascinating day out. The atmosphere there is calming and very
peaceful and you can´t
help but leave the area feeling rested.
Another thing Tenerife is famous for is the Carnival which is held each
year in February or March. For those that miss this extrordinary
spectacle, there is no end of other fiestas and romerias throughout
the year. One that is especially recommended is Corpus Cristi held
at the beginning of June each year. In La Oratava fabulous carpets
made of flower petals and coloured salt line the streets only to
be destroyed by the procession a few hours later.
There is no end of fine restaurants,
bars and entertainment. Take in the
amazing and internationally renowned Carmen Motta spectacular in
Los Cristianos or enjoy an evening of comedy and music at one of
the locals.
For shopaholics you'll find plenty of bargains
in Tenerife. There are several popular brand names selling
here for a fraction of high street prices in the UK. Tenerife
wines are
very well respected and reasonably priced and there are a number
of specialist items and handicrafts that make great gifts.
Of course the easiest way to get round the island is by to rent
a car and drive yourself. Cars can be picked up and dropped
off at the airport so there is no need to wait in the airport queue
for an expensive taxi.
